P..p..p..p..p.p.. pppppick up a penguin!

by | Jun 22, 2012

My word I’m really glad its Friday after a manic week with work, but it’s a busy weekend ahead so no rest for the wicked!
I have my Papercraft class tomorrow which I am really looking forward to, then car shopping and a family photo shoot on Sunday, followed by heading down to the pub to watch the footy. I shall be ready for a rest come Monday .. but then it’s back to work!
I have lots of things to share with you so fingers crossed I can squeeze some time in to blog too! My first card to share was a definite labour of love. During the class last month where we used the fab Owl  punch I was telling my ladies how versatile a punch it was and all the different things you can use it for.  , like a penguin, ghost, mouse, pig to name a few.
“Ooh penguin!” says my little sis “You can make me a card with 30 penguins to celebrate my big birthday!” I laughed it off and as the day dawned closer I wasn’t really sure I had the time to do 30 penguins but after a tough couple of days for my sister I decided the night before her birthday to forge ahead with the crazy plan.
So here’s some of my penguins. It’s simple to create them with the Owl Punch – a Basic Black body with ears trimmed off, a Whisper White bib, a heart from Pumpkin Pie for the beak and some feet which I glued over the black feet on the main body, and then some Whisper white eyes.
So I made the required 30 of them and boy did that take a while! It’s great to do whilst catching up on tv though!
I then obviously needed to work out how to fit 30 onto a card. So I made the card base from a 12″ sheet of Marina Mist cardstock folded in half and then created some icebergs from whisper white and sponged with some Pool Party ink for that frozen look!
With the Olympics coming up of which my sis is a huge fan I decided to add a podium for the Penguin Diving Competition. So that was 22 penguins squeezed in but what to do with the rest … ?
I sneaked a few in on the inside, with some holding balloons and banners. The balloon is from the Up,Up and Away set from the new mini whilst I added her special birthday age with the Timeless Type Alphabet Die which also includes numbers and other basic shapes … a definite worthwhile investment!

So that’s all for me now, I’ll be back soon sharing what me and my lovely ladies get up to in class tomorrow.

Hasta la próxima / until next time

OMG Louise, what a fantastic card. I bet your sister loved it didn’t she? I might have to case one or two of your cards as you are soooo clever. Keep in touch mate.
