Baby Wipe Multicolour Leaves for an Autumnal Card

by | Sep 20, 2020

I love creating cards for Autumn, it’s probably my second favourite thing after Christmas, so I was so happy to have an autumn theme for the Stamptastic Friends blog hop. It’s certainly starting to feel like Autumn here in the UK, I love the crips mornings, and seeing the leaves change colour. I live right by a forest and it’s magical as they all change colour, so I decided to recreate this for my card.

I created the background using the Baby Wipe technique and the gorgeous leaf stamps from Rooted in Nature. This technique is so simple to do

Baby Wipe Multicolour Ink Technique

  • Take a Baby Wipe and lay it down on a protective surface (I use a takeaway tub for mine)
  • Pick your 3-4 different colours of Ink Refills – here I used Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Soft Suede
  • Take the lightest colour and add a few drops into an area (about twice the size of your largest stamp ), repeat with the second and third colours so that as they bleed they merge into one complete area.
  • Take your stamp and stamp on to the baby wipe and as you stamp you will have a beautiful multi-coloured image.

Once the background was created I added some finishing touches. A couple of die cut leaves from the coordinating Nature’s Roots dies in Cinnamon Cider and Early Espresso cardstock. The dies have both embossing and cutting dies so I could create these embossed leaves. I finished off with a sentiment from the stamp set and a bow in Braided Lined Trim.

Once I created the Baby Wipe leaf background I decided to use it to create a matching gift item with the Mini Coffee Cups. These are such fun to decorate and using the Warm Wraps dies you have so many different options. Here I combines some of the label dies with some more leaves!

So that’s my autumn themed project. I hope you give the baby Wipe technique ago if you haven’t tried it before – be sure to show me your results.

Now time to head on over to the other Stamptastic Friends and see what autumnal projects they have created to share with you.

Happy crafting and hasta luego,
