Who’s a cheeky monkey?

by | Apr 8, 2012

Evening, hope you’ve not overindulged too much with the Easter eggs? We’ve not done much to celebrate Easter this year, I’m sure next year will involve Grace having her own little egg hunt but for this year we had our proud parent moment … when she took several steps unaided. Woo hoo!!
This weekend was also another celebration for a special little person in our lives …. my nephew Xavier, who turned 1. I wanted to make a card that would be good for one year old. At this age cards are generally boring and are just ripped up or dumped to the side. Now Grace loved her 1st Birthday card with its bright colours and animals but what to do for her little cousin?
I decided to have a go at a spinner card … it was my first attempt, eek!  Surely a moving part would keep a one year old’s attention?
The card base is Marina Mist which is topped with a layer of Pear Pizzaz to match the lovely Nursery Nest Designer Paper. I printed the sentiment on the computer and then used the fab Timeless Type Alphabet dies to personalise it.
The slit for the spinner is created with the Word Window punch, and the spinner uses the  1 3/4″ Scallop Circle and 1 3/8 Circle punches. The cheeky monkey image is from Fox and Friends which is great for all childrens’ ages …. and a few adults too!
I decorated the inside with another monkey to finish it off. Xavier liked his card but I’m pretty sure the adults had more fun with it … big kids that we are!
All the lovely ladies that are coming to my April class will be learning how to make one of these cards … it’s really simple once you know how! If you want to come along and learn how to make cards like this, come back soon and I’ll be posting my updated class schedule this week.
Also, if you like these Designer Papers, don’t forget you can get them FREE with a qualifying order.

Hasta la próxima / until next time
