Personalised Baby Boy Card

by | Jul 25, 2021

One of the best things I love about making my own cards is being able to personalise them … no card is better suited to a bit of personalisation than to welcome a new baby to the family.

Last month we got to welcome a beautiful new nephew to the family, when my little sister had baby number two.

Easiest way to personalise a card

The personalised banner on the card was simply created using the Playful Alphabet Dies, these are a must have item if you like to add names, birth dates, football teams, or indeed any word to a card. The options are endless.

For this card I die cut the letters in Night of Navy cardstock and then adhered to a strip of Basic white. There was just enough room to add a stamped and die cut hippo from the Hippo Happiness Stamp set and coordinating dies. Another perfect duo for new baby cards with hippos, unicorns and sheep to choose from!

Then layered onto some smoky slate cardstock to give it added depth.

The background of the card was created very simply with some of the paper from the In Good Taste designer series paper which has lots of textures and this one is like a painted wall effect and I thought it went fantastically with my colour combination of Night of Navy and Smoky Slate.

How to add some bunting

This card was a larger card than normal – 5 x 7 inches and so there was plenty of room to add on some bunting. I used some of the natural Bakers Twine and a series of triangles of cardstock to create the bunting. I created my triangles with the Ice Cream Cone Builder punch, but you could just use your trimmer to cut out some triangles, but cutting rectangles and then slicing on the diagonal.

The bunting was finished off with some stamping – these cute images are from Days to Remember stamp set, and finally a series of Metallic pearls to create some ‘pins” for the bunting.

Last but not least I stamped a few stars on the inside

I like adding some stamping to the inside of the card as it just adds a nice little touch.

So that’s my personalised baby boy card … there are 3 more babies due in 2021 in my world, so I’m sure I’ll be sharing more ideas for this later on in the year.

Happy crafting and hasta luego,
